Diamonds provide the perfect containers for these minerals, isolating them from the high pressure and temperature reactions within the Earth for geological time spans. Because even low elemental concentrations and minute features in diamonds can now be analyzed using instruments with higher sensitivity and resolution, studies combining the inclusions and their diamond hosts are powerful tools for geological research.
